Turkey Pancakes

Adorable Turkey Pancakes!
Three colours of pancake batter and mini chocolate morsels is all you need for these adorable turkey pancakes!  As always, I used condiment dispensers for each colour.  After I flipped the pancakes I placed 2 morsels to represent each eye.

Pumpkin Jack-O-Lantern Cupcakes

Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin Pancake

These are just a basic pancake with some orange food colouring and some mini peanut butter cups.  All I did was place the chocolate on the griddle, pour the batter over it and cook as usual.  Easy but fun for the kids!  I made these last year, this year I might try to make ones with pumpkin in them for added health!

Boba Fett Star Wars Pancakes

Boba Fett Pancake for my Son's 7th Birthday!

It is my son's 7th birthday today and he is a Star Wars fanatic and he just got the LEGO Slave I Boba Fett set for his birthday so I decided to make Boba Fett pancakes for his birthday breakfast.  Buttermilk pancakes sorted into three different colours.  I used our Boba Fett cookie cutters as a bit of a guide for how to do it.  He loved it, of course!

Stars, Stripes and Flag Pancakes for 4th of July or Memorial Day

The 'front' of the star

The American Flag pancake!
For an easy but fun breakfast idea just make some pancakes.  I did not spend a lot of money on the brand name pancake dispenser because the condiment dispensers work great, as long as you have no chunks in your batter.  As you can see I made three colours of batter - red, white and blue - and just put them in the dispenser and had fun with my design.  I made stars and flags.  Happy Independence Day!

Superman Pancakes for Father's Day

The Final Product...not perfect, but you get the point

My kids and I wanted to come up with something fun for daddy on Father's Day.  I decided to try to make Superman pancakes and they loved the idea!  I just made three colours of pancake batter, piped the design on the grill and cooked.  NOTE: when making pancake letters, remember to put it on the grill as a mirror image.  If you do not do this, the 'nicer' side of the pancake will be backwards!  The pancake did not turn out great but it was decent!  And of course, daddy was still thrilled because if the kids love it, daddies do too:)

Stars and Stripes French Toast

Stars and Stripes French Toast

I made this french toast last year.  Super easy to do but fun for the kids to eat.  I just used your basic french toast recipe and added food colouring.  Dip bread in the egg mixture to make whatever design you want and cook as usual!  Use whatever cookie cutter you want.  Obviously for Memorial Day and/or 4th of July I chose a star shaped cookie cutter!   Since I am a Canadian living in the states I might have to make Maple Leaf french toast for Canada Day (July 1st).

Heart Shaped Valentine's Pancakes

Heart Pancakes!

For Valentine's breakfast I just made some pancake batter and put it in 2 separate bowls.  To one bowl I added pink gel food colouring and to the other I added red gel colour.  Just use a small spoon so you can control the spread of the pancake and put a small heart of pink or red batter in the middle and then the alternate colour for the outside of the pancake.  Another quick and simple way to make a 'fun' meal.  In my family, pancakes are not only breakfast but also dinner food!

Bunny Pancakes

Bunny pancake with blueberry eyes and saltwater taffy whiskers!

So today is Easter - Hallelujah, He is Risen... He is Risen indeed!  We would normally have a big dinner but instead, we are a household of sickies, well, I am the sick one which means I do not want to cook today and since we were just with our family, I let the kids choose.  They chose blueberry pancakes.  I had to take this opportunity to make at least one bunny pancake so that I could have something to add to my blog.  I did make the pancakes purple, which is kind of hard to see.  I first placed a blueberry on the pan for each eye and the nose and then I cut banana saltwater taffy into strips and placed them around the nose for their whiskers.  I then just made a circle for the head and added some ears.  The saltwater taffy totally melted and they made indents into the pancakes.  I ended up making 2 bunnies, one for each of my munchkins!  Super easy and very cute!

Bunny and Butterfly French Toast - Easter Breakfast

Pink Bunny French Toast
Purple Butterfly French Toast

Last year on Good Friday my friends and I had a 'buffet' brunch for all our kids.  I chose to bring the french toast so I got my cookie cutters out and made bunny and butterfly shaped french toast.  If you know how to make french toast, you can make them into any shape.  To get them coloured I just added some food colouring.  Why?  Because it makes it more fun.  Most kids love to eat coloured food.  The pink bunnies turned out better than the purple butterflies because I could not get the colour right for the butterflies.  Oh well, lesson learned and it is something I can change this year.
